Do you use Digital ICE, Digital ROC, Digital GEM, etc when you scan?

Digital ICE is a process invented by Kodak to remove dust and scratch marks from scans. It works very well and we use it wherever we can - all of our scanners have it built in.

ROC and GEM are to do with enhancing the scans.

We scan a lot of photos with very bad dust and scratch marks and this system helps a lot.

Although we use them and certainly wouldn't want a scanner that doesn't have this technology you should be aware that they are not the cureall for scanning problems that some businesses try to make out.

If you use ICE on an image that doesn't need it or an image with lots of fine detail it can mess the scan up. We use it when it is appropriate to do so.
