Photo Print Scanning
(see other options here)
Why should I bother to get my prints scanned?
Photos are very important to people. When disaster strikes and a house is flooded or burned one of the first items that people try to retrieve are their photos. Photos are not expensive items to produce but they are very precious to those who own them. Having prints turned into digital pictures by scanning offers a good way of making sure photos are preserved for future generations. If you then have a backup copy stored somewhere else even big disasters need not destroy those precious images.
Today, in this digital age, there are also many more ways to enjoy photos but all of these demand that the pictures are in a digital form. Having prints scanned enables you to enjoy the pictures in new ways.
Sometimes we need more than one copy of a print. Sadly couples sometimes split and need extra copies of their shared prints. Also when children leave home they would often welcome the chance to have copies of the photos that recorded their life in the family home. Scanning is an ideal way to give copies of photos to others.
Why should I get you to scan my prints?
Although modern computer equipment is often quite cheap to buy the cost of buying professional scanning equipment is high.
Then there is the time it takes to learn how to get a good scan. This is not as easy as it may seem, especially if the prints have deteriorated over the years.
We use professional scanning equipment and take great care to get good results from the prints you send us.
However perhaps one of the most significant reasons is the time it takes to scan a number of prints. For many people this becomes a tedious and time consuming process. We are sure you have other ways you would like to use your time. Why not give yourself a break and let us do the scanning for you.
By making use of our service you save money and time as well as gaining from our extensive scanning experience.
What are the options?
The options for scanning prints can seem overwhelming. We understand this and try to make things as simple as possible. You tell us what you want to use the scans for and we will advise on the best way to achieve your goal.
We like to help as much as we can and so encourage you to contact us and ask as many questions as you like.
We offer three levels of print scanning: Bronze Standard, Gold Standard and Professional Standard.
Bronze standard matches the quality of scanning that other bulk scanning services offer. This is essentially bulk scanning using an automated system. The results are reasonable but the process is not as good as scanning each print by hand. If you need an economical service then this is the one to go for.
Gold Standard Service (Scan once) is a service that provides a very high quality result. Each print is scanned individually and examined to get the best possible scan that we can. If your prints are very old or damaged then this is the best service to go for. If you want to scan photos that you want to be available for future generations or because you want to archive pictures then we believe this is the best option to go for.
Professional Standard is for those jobs that need a highly professional result. You can find out more about this on our professional scanning page. Unless you are a very serious amateur photographer or professional photographer this level will probably not be necessary for your scans.
We can save your scans in any way you like. You have the standard options of DVD or CD but we can save to memory cards, memory sticks, etc.
You can also choose to have your prints saved as TIFF or JPEG files. There is more on this the the FAQ section.
If you are at all confused or just want a little extra help them please contact us and ask.
